Central Minnesota Karate Rank Exam Requirements
-10th Kyu or 9th Kyu (White / Yellow Striped Belt) Testing for
8th Kyu (Yellow Belt)-
If you are interested in testing for the rank of 8th Kyu (yellow belt), you must have
a recommendation from your Sensei and their signature on your test application.
If you are testing, you will be asked to perform the following:
I. Kata |
Heian Shodan
All twenty-one movements in sequence. |

II. Kihon |
Downward block in front stance.
Outside block in front stance.
Rising block in front stance.
Single and triple punch in front stance.
Elbow strike in middle stance.
Knife-hand strike in back stance.
Single and two step front kick.
Side thrust kick in middle stance.
Combination front kick and single punch.

III. Kumite |
A) Defense and attack against upper level.
B) Defense and attack against middle level.
|
NOTE: Karate etiquette and a strong spirit is expected of all
participants who wish to advance in rank.
