Kiel earns top honors at invitational

Jennifer Kiel of Central Minnesota Karate was named tournament Grand Champion at the SKIF USA (Shotokan Karate International) National Karate Invitational in Mounds View. Kiel became the only person to take first place in two individual competitions: Women's Black Belt Sparring and Women's Black Belt Kata. The Central Minnesota Karate team of Richard Theis, Josh Theis and Steve Theis placed first in Team Kata (three-person synchronized Kata), and Richard Theis took second place in Men' Black Belt Kumite Division II (sparring) and third in Men's Black Belt Kata. Anthony Vorderbruggen was third in Men's Purple Brown Belt Kata (form). As a team, Central Minnesota Karate placed second in the meet.
