Heian Shodan kata movements:
- Bow and assume ready position.
- Look to the left and stepinto a left front stance and execute
a left downward block.
- Step forward into a right front stance and execute a right
straight punch.
- Turn 180 degrees to the right, using the left foot as the pivot,
into a right front stance and execute a right downward block.
- Bring right foot halfway back to left while bringing right fist
to the left side of face.
- Slide right foot forward again into a right front stance and
execute a right bottom fist strike.
- Step forward into a left front stance and execute a left straight
punch.
- Bring left foot back to right and out to the left into a left
front stance and execute a left downward block.
- Raise left open hand above head, step forward into a right front
stance and execute a right rising block.
- Open right hand, step forward into a left front stance and execute
a left rising block.
- Open left hand, step forward into a right front stance and execute
a right rising block (KIAI!).
- Turn 270 degrees to the left, using the right foot as the pivot,
into a left front stance and execute a left downward block.
- Step forward into a right front stance and execute a right
straight punch.
- Turn 180 degrees to the right, using the left foot as the pivot,
into a right front stance and execute a right downward block.
- Step forward into a left front stance and execute a left straight
punch.
- Bring left foot back to right and out to the left into a left
front stance and execute a left downward block.
- Step forward into a right front stance and execute a right straight
punch.
- Step forward into a left front stance and execute a left straight
punch.
- Step forward into a right front stance and execute a right straight
punch (KIAI!).
- Turn 270 degrees to the left, using the right foot as the pivot,
into a right back stance and execute a left knife hand block.
- Step 45 degrees forward into a left back stance and execute a
right knife hand block.
- Turn 135 degrees to the right, using the left foot as the pivot,
into a left back stance and execute a right knife hand block.
- Step 45 degrees forward into a right back stance and execute a
left knife hand block.
- Bring left foot back to right into ready position and bow.
